The Distinguished Engineer role is unique at IBM with technical and executive responsibilities. In addition to my client role I worked with my DE peers on IBM’s telecomm strategy and architecting reusable assets. For example I led an effort to scale our network analytics solution to meet ever increasing traffic. We also mentor technical professionals as they advanced their careers. This included frequently participating in workshops focused on increasing the diversity of IBM’s top technical talent. Participants in the workshops are paired with a DE and an executive that will mentor them throughout their career.
